The NDC Professional Forum has recognized and acknowledged the meritorious contributions made by the former president John Dramani Mahama to party work especially the formation of the NDC Pro-Forum organization.
The recognition is for his leadership style of service in humility to members of the opposition National Democratic Congress during his regime as president of Ghana and leader of the NDC and continues to extend support to party members after leaving office as a former president.
The NDC Pro-Forum at its 5th anniversary celebration held in Accra, rewarded Mr. Mahama with a certificate and an Indian made plague that had an inscription “your active support in the formation of the NDC Pro-Forum is greatly appreciated’’.
Other NDC party gurus who were also rewarded included former chairman of Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, Ato Ahwoi, Ghana’s longest- serving information minister under Rawlings regime, Kofi Totobi Quakyi and former minister for local government and Rural Development, Professor Kwamena Ahwoi.
Others are immediate past NDC national Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, former NDC national organizer, Joshua Akamba, former NDC deputy national Secretary, Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor and a former Ghana’s ambassador India, lawyer Sam Pee Yalley.
In brief remarks, Mr. Mahama who is contesting to be Flagbearer to lead the NDC into the 2024 elections, commended the leadership of the pro-NDC group and also thanked the former NDC national Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo under whose reign the Pro-Forum group was officially recognized as an affiliate body of the party.
Mr. Mahama said ‘’Revolutionary parties often have the interest of the masses at heart, and so not only in Ghana but in many places, where you have a revolutionary party, the thinking is that it is just about peasant and farmers and poor people and masses and all that but they don’t realize that the vanguard of every revolutionary party has serious intellectuals leading that vanguard and so when Pro-Forum came, Ambassador Sam Pee Yalley and co said we need to bring our professionals together, and the vision that they had for which they started this movement has shown that when it comes to academics, vision, intellectuals we have more fire power than the area boys who said they have the men’’.
The NDC Professionals Forum is a body of professionals such as doctors, lawyers, nurses, lecturers, engineers and communicators as well as Ex-Government officials in the previous NDC administrations with the intent of assisting and solidifying the NDC in its efforts at recapturing political power.
The group was officially recognized as an affiliate of the party during the 10th National Delegates congress of the NDC held at the Accra Sports Stadium.
