John Dramani Mahama, Leader and Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on Ghanaians to elect a leader who is honest, trustworthy, and committed to infrastructure development as the next President of Ghana. He emphasized that a leader who is insensitive to the plight of their people is not a good leader.
Mahama made these remarks at the Central Tongu constituency, marking the end of his four-day campaign tour in the Volta Region. He cited the recent Akosombo Dam spillage, which caused havoc in parts of the region, as an example of the current government’s insensitivity. Despite the devastation, the current administration, led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, failed to provide adequate compensation to the victims.
Mahama condemned the President’s statement during his visit to the affected area, where he said he was there as President, not because the people of Volta Region voted for him. Mahama argued that this statement contravenes the constitution, which requires the President to do justice to all manner of persons.
The NDC Flagbearer reassured the victims of the Akosombo dam spillage that, if elected, his government would provide adequate compensation to all displaced and affected individuals. He emphasized the need for a leader who cares about the welfare of their people and prioritizes their needs.
