The Paramount Chief of Wechiau traditional council, Naa Imoro Nangong Gomah II, has pledged his unwavering support to John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), ahead of the December 7 elections.
During Mahama’s three-day campaign tour in the Upper West region, the Paramount Chief assured him that the Wechiau community will deliver a resounding victory to the NDC.
The Chief expressed concerns about the community’s neglect since the NDC left office in 2016, describing it as an “orphan.” He highlighted pressing issues such as bad roads, youth unemployment, lack of health facilities, and electricity in areas like Gurungu, Meteu, Kawu, and Varinpere. The Chief appealed to Mahama to complete the E-Block school structure at Dorimon, emphasizing that the community’s challenges will be addressed in detail when Mahama returns to power ¹.
Mahama’s campaign focuses on key manifesto policies, including:
- 24-Hour Economy Policy: promoting economic growth and development
- Women’s Development Bank: supporting women’s empowerment and economic independence
- The Big Push: comprehensive infrastructure development initiative
- National Apprenticeship Program: providing skills training and employment opportunities
These policies aim to address the economic and employment concerns that Ghanaians have raised ahead of the elections. With the Paramount Chief’s endorsement, Mahama’s campaign gains momentum in the Upper West region.
