Ex-Ghana midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has warned the brightest spots in the WAFU ZONE B U-20 tournament against falling for mercenary agents.
The Black Satellites suffered a 2-1 loss to rivals, Nigeria in the finals of the WAFU ZONE B AFCON qualifiers at the Stade de Kegué in Togo on Wednesday.
An array of twinkle little stars are often left at the mercy of unscrupulous agents after major junior and youth tournaments with Badu a perfect example after sweeping the board across Africa and the world in the U20 in 2009.
Badu sees a repeat of the phenomenon this term and has cautioned the youngsters against succumbing to the sugarcoated contracts which often truncates their career.
“Now there is eye on them everywhere especially the striker, Jerry Afriyie so if the parents and the agent don’t take care and they give him a bad decision that affects his career, the we are in trouble.” Agyemang Badu told Adamu Muftawu of Radio Gold Sports.
“If we follow him well, he is a very good player and he will be a very for the U-23 and the Black Stars in future”
“So we are pleading to the parents, the agents to take a very good decision that will bring the guys up na dto help them in their career.”
A very promising team put together by young coach, Desmond Ofei has qualified for the 2025 AFCON despite the loss to the Flying Eagles.
