Former Hearts of Oak defender, Ibrahim Larry Sumaila has been taken aback by the club’s current performance in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.
The Phobians have been a pale shadow of themselves this term under Ivorian trainer, Aboubakar Ouatarra – clawing a paltry nine points from their opening eight matches.
Larry, who has a double trophy in his wardrobe – the 2020/21 Premier League and the 2021 FA Cup under the guidance of Samuel Boadu.
The millennium champions have chalked just two wins, drawn three with three losses and seated 12.
In interview with Adamu Muftawu of Radio Gold Sports, Larry Sumaila admits his sadness at the turn of events at the club.
“Every Hearts of Oak supporter is not happy, every supporter of Hearts who loves the club is not happy.” Larry Sumaila told Radio Gold Sports.
“Despite playing for the club, I am a supporter of the club myself and I will say I am not happy about the performance of the club.
“I visited the team at the training ground and as a senior player, what I could do, I did.
“I told them that, that is football because we also went through the same thing but we later picked up and we won the league and the FA Cup.
“All the players need to do is talk to themselves, believe in themselves because they have played eight matches and there are more matches to go.” He added.
