The United Nations (UN) has pledged its support to President-elect John Dramani Mahama’s administration.
This assurance was given by the United Nations Resident Coordinator, Charles Abani, who congratulated Mahama on his victory and commended him for leading a successful and peaceful election campaign.
Abani emphasized the UN’s commitment to collaborating with Mahama’s administration, acknowledging the significance of Ghana’s democracy and its role in upholding peace and security in West Africa.
In response, Mahama expressed his appreciation for the UN’s support and highlighted the long-standing relationship between Ghana and the UN.
He emphasized the need to deepen this relationship, particularly in addressing the current crises facing Ghana.
Mahama also discussed his plans to work with the World Bank and the IMF to address debt repayment issues and ensure that Ghana doesn’t default again.
He acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed his commitment to meeting the high expectations of Ghanaians.
