Minister-Designate for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okidzeto Ablakwa has asserted that his exposés on alleged acts of corruption under the erstwhile Nana Akufo-Addo government has saved Ghana billions of dollars.
Speaking during his vetting on Friday, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa was convinced that his efforts at exposing corruption deserved commendation rather than vilification.
He claimed that his exposés had shed light on many suspicious deals, including a $38.2 million visa agreement with Access Services Ghana Limited.
According to him, the said visa agreement was dubious as it lacked approval from the Public Procurement Authority.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said his persistence in the wake of the pushback from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration sparked public discussions that forced the government to open up on the deal.
The Foreign Minister-Designate hinted that time has vindicated him on all alleged acts of corruption he has exposed as they have been proven to be factual.
“All the interceptions I have carried out have been in the interest of the country,” he stated. “Indeed, many Ghanaians have celebrated me for saving this country billions of dollars.”
He acknowledged that his work of exposing alleged acts of corruption has not been easy but was quick to add, “It is a tough job, but somebody has to do it.”
