Consumers of fibre broadband services in Ghana are set to benefit from significantly reduced internet costs following a price review by MTN Ghana.
The announcement was made by the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, who disclosed that engagements between the government and MTN Ghana had resulted in substantial reductions in fibre broadband tariffs.
According to the minister, customers who previously paid GH¢987 per month for an unlimited 100 Mbps broadband package will now pay GH¢299 for the same service. He described the reduction as a major step towards making high-speed internet more affordable and accessible to Ghanaians.
Under the revised pricing structure, customers can also access an unlimited 300 Mbps package for GH¢444, while an unlimited 500 Mbps package is now available for GH¢999.
Hon. George said the development followed calls for more affordable, stable and reliable broadband services in the country. He commended the management and staff of MTN Ghana for responding positively to concerns raised by government and consumers.
“I want to express my gratitude to the management and staff of MTN who have heeded our call for more affordable, stable and reliable fibre broadband,” he stated.
The minister assured the public that the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations would continue to engage telecommunications service providers to improve service delivery and offer better value to consumers.
The reduction in broadband prices is expected to benefit households, businesses, students and remote workers who rely heavily on internet connectivity for their daily activities.
Industry observers say the move could increase broadband adoption across the country and further support Ghana’s digital transformation agenda.
