President John Mahama has assembled a taskforce to ensure the successful implementation of his 120-Day Social Contract promises. This move demonstrates his commitment to delivering on his campaign pledges within the stipulated timeframe.
Mahama’s 120-Day Social Contract outlines 25 key initiatives aimed at creating a lean and efficient government, addressing economic issues, and implementing significant social interventions. Some of the promises include:
Government Formation and Standards: Nominating a complete list of Cabinet Ministers within 14 days and constituting the leanest government under the Fourth Republic within 90 days.
Economic Initiatives: Holding a National Economic Dialogue, scrapping several taxes, and reviewing taxes on vehicles and equipment imported for industrial purposes.
Social Interventions: Implementing a ‘No-Academic-Fee’ policy for first-year students in public tertiary institutions, introducing Free Tertiary Education for Persons with Disabilities, and distributing free sanitary pads to female students.
The taskforce is expected to oversee the rollout of these initiatives and ensure their timely completion.
With the formation of this taskforce, Mahama is demonstrating his dedication to transparency, accountability, and good governance.
