President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to participate in the 38th Ordinary Session of the African Union Summit.
This year’s summit is themed “Justice for Africans and people of African descent through reparation” and will bring together African Heads of State and Government to discuss and make decisions on various political and socio-economic issues.
The Assembly will consider several reports, including institutional reforms of the African Union, peace and security in Africa, participation in the G20, and reports on governance issues, climate change, and education.
They will also discuss accelerating access to clean cooking solutions, the situation in Palestine, and draft legal instruments.
Furthermore, the Assembly will elect a new Chairman for the African Union, potentially replacing the current Chairman, President Mohammed GhaZouani of Mauritania.
It’s worth noting that President Mahama has been actively engaging with other African leaders, having recently visited three African countries to deepen ties and nurture bilateral relations.
Additionally, he has joined 29 other Heads of State in pledging to expand access to reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity in their respective countries.
