Ghana and the Czech Republic have strengthened their bilateral relationship with the signing of two key agreements.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Political Consultation and an Air Transport Agreement.
These agreements were formalized during Czech President Petr Pavel’s state visit to Ghana, where he met with President John Mahama at the Jubilee House on April 9, 2025.

MoU on Political Consultation
This agreement aims to enhance political cooperation and dialogue between the two countries.
Air Transport Agreement
The agreement seeks to boost air travel and trade between Ghana and the Czech Republic.
Healthcare Cooperation
President Mahama expressed gratitude for the Czech government’s support in Ghana’s health sector, including the construction of health facilities and provision of medical experts.
Infrastructure Development
Both leaders agreed to revisit the completion of 50 ongoing bridge projects and initiate the construction of an additional 100 bridges.
Economic Ties and Future Cooperation
President Mahama urged the Ghanaian and Czech business communities to explore opportunities within the Ghanaian economy, highlighting the potential for increased cooperation across various sectors.
The Czech Republic has been a significant trade partner for Ghana, with trade between the two countries reaching 700 million euros. This growing economic relationship is expected to deepen in the coming years, with the Czech Republic serving as a gateway to the European Union.
Strengthening Diplomatic Relations
The agreements and discussions between Ghana and the Czech Republic signal a renewed commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries.
This development is in line with President Mahama’s vision for economic transformation, including his 24-Hour Economy Initiative aimed at creating sustainable, well-paying jobs and promoting economic growth.
