Accra, Ghana – The Republic of Ghana is honoured to host the official launch of ECOWAS @ 50, marking five decades of regional unity, cooperation, and development under the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The launch event, scheduled to take place in Accra on 22nd April, 2025 at the Accra International Conference Centre has begun attracting regional leaders and dignitaries from across West Africa.
Earlier today, the Honourable Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, warmly welcomed His Excellency Muhammed B. S. Jallow, Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia, to Ghana.
This gesture reflects Ghana’s enduring commitment to regional solidarity and its pivotal role in the advancement of ECOWAS.
Founded in 1975, ECOWAS is a regional political and economic union of fifteen West African countries aimed at fostering economic integration, political cooperation, and peace and security in the region.
Over the past 50 years, ECOWAS has played a crucial role in promoting democracy, conflict resolution, and regional trade.
The golden jubilee celebrations are set to reflect on the organization’s milestones, challenges, and the path forward as the region navigates issues such as economic transformation, peace and security, climate resilience, and youth empowerment.
With Accra as the backdrop, the ECOWAS @ 50 launch promises to be both a reflective and forward-looking event, uniting leaders under the shared vision of a more integrated and prosperous West Africa.
As always, Ghana is proud to play host and stand tall as a beacon of regional cooperation and unity.
