The Chairman of the newly inaugurated National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), Dr. Nii Moi Thompson, has assured President John Dramani Mahama and the nation that the Commission is committed to formulating bold and transformative development plans that will secure Ghana’s long-term growth and prosperity.
Speaking after the swearing-in ceremony in Accra, Dr. Thompson emphasized that the Commission will work diligently to develop a comprehensive national agenda that addresses the country’s critical challenges and aligns with the aspirations of Ghanaians.
“We are fully aware of the weight of this responsibility, and we intend to deliver a strategic plan that is not only bold and transformative but also sustainable and inclusive,”- Dr. Thompson stated.
He echoed President Mahama’s call for a development framework that goes beyond partisan politics and electoral timelines, noting that the Commission’s work will be guided by evidence-based research, stakeholder engagement, and a clear vision for Ghana’s future.
President Mahama, who inaugurated the 37-member Commission, stressed the need for a stable and predictable development path that transcends governments and political divides.
He expressed confidence in the leadership of Dr. Thompson and the capacity of the Commission to deliver on its mandate.
The National Development Planning Commission is expected to coordinate and oversee the formulation of medium- to long-term development policies and strategies for the country, providing continuity and direction for successive governments.
