President John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated a 37-member National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), charging the team with crafting a bold and transformative roadmap to drive Ghana’s socio-economic development.
The newly constituted Commission is chaired by renowned economist Dr. Nii Moi Thompson. Its core mandate is to spearhead long-term national development strategies that transcend electoral cycles and partisan politics.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, President Mahama emphasized the need for a stable and predictable development framework that meets the expectations of Ghanaians.
“Our citizens are increasingly demanding a national development path that is not subject to the changing winds of political cycles,” the President said.
“We must deliver a plan that is bold, transformative, and reflective of the collective aspirations of our people.”
The Commission will be responsible for shaping policies that promote inclusive growth, economic stability, and sustainable development across all sectors.
President Mahama expressed confidence in the diverse expertise of the Commission’s members and urged them to work collaboratively to deliver on their mandate.
