The $8 billion Korle Lagoon Smart City Project is expected to generate over 100,000 jobs for Ghanaian youth upon completion, according to Dr. John Kissi, Technical Advisor to Intercontinental Consultants Inc. (ICC).
Dr. Kissi made the announcement during a high-level meeting between the project’s technical and legal delegation and the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources held earlier today.
Project Overview
During his presentation, Dr. Kissi outlined the comprehensive framework of the Smart City initiative, which will be segmented into various specialized zones, including:
Commercial business enclave
Financial, corporate, and investment banking district
Recreational and marina spaces
Sea defense and breakwater infrastructure
Community health, hospital, and polytechnic facilities
Accra Community Theater
High bridge across the Korle Lagoon
Affordable housing units
The project is poised to significantly contribute to urban renewal, smart infrastructure development, and the rehabilitation of the Korle Lagoon ecosystem.
