President John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaians to remain hopeful and united, assuring that Ghana’s future holds greater promise than its past.
He made this declaration during the first-ever National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving held at the State House Forecourt on Tuesday.
Delivering the keynote address, President Mahama expressed confidence in the country’s resilience and potential for progress despite recent challenges.
“Our best days are not behind us. Our best days lie ahead of us,” he said.
“We believe that the same God that has brought us this far will carry us forward.”
The President emphasized the importance of national gratitude, referencing the biblical story from the Gospel of Luke, in which Jesus healed ten lepers but only one returned to give thanks.
“Gratitude is powerful. It completes the miracle and opens the door to more,” he stated. “And so today, Almighty God, we are like that one leper who has come back to say, thank you Lord. Thank you Lord, for Your blessings and mercy.”
President Mahama also highlighted the significance of prayer and thanksgiving in Ghana’s national life, urging citizens to keep faith and remain vigilant in protecting peace and unity.
He praised the creativity and potential of Ghana’s youth, describing them as a key driver of the nation’s future development.
“I believe in Ghana’s future. I believe in our young people, in their talent and innovation, and in our economy’s ability to recover and grow stronger,” he added.
The event brought together religious leaders, government officials, and citizens from various backgrounds, all joining in worship and reflection on the nation’s journey.
The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving is expected to become an annual occasion for collective reflection, gratitude, and unity in Ghana.
