The Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced the commencement of key feasibility and design studies for a series of major road infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing long-term network resilience and regional integration.
Speaking at the Government Accountability Series held at Jubilee House, sector Minister Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza highlighted these initiatives as critical components of the Mahama administration’s RESET agenda, which prioritizes strategic planning, regional equity, and infrastructure-led job creation.
“As we build for today, we are also designing for the future.
These pipeline projects will ensure that our national road infrastructure keeps pace with economic transformation, urban expansion, and the demands of a 24-hour economy,” the Minister stated.
Ongoing Feasibility and Design Studies Include:
New Alignment of the Accra–Kumasi Expressway
Aimed at significantly reducing travel time and enhancing safety along Ghana’s busiest transport corridor.
Accra Outer Ring Road & Kumasi Outer Ring Road
Planned to decongest urban centres, improve regional logistics, and support efficient freight movement.
Adawso–Ekye Amanfrom Bridge
Designed to connect the Afram Plains to the rest of the country and unlock vast agricultural and commercial potential in the Eastern Region.
These projects are currently in the design and appraisal phase, with technical studies and stakeholder consultations underway.
Hon. Agbodza emphasized that the Ministry is ensuring all pipeline projects meet high standards of economic viability, environmental sustainability, and social inclusiveness, with an eye on future-proofing Ghana’s infrastructure for the next generation.
The strategic studies form part of the broader infrastructure roadmap to position Ghana as a logistics and economic hub in the sub-region.
