An orchid hybrid has been named after His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama at the National Orchid Garden of Singapore.
The ceremony took place during President Mahama’s visit to the Singapore Botanic Gardens, where the newly named orchid, “Vanda John Dramani Mahama,” was unveiled and added to the prestigious VIP Orchids Collection.
The National Orchid Garden has a longstanding tradition of naming unique orchid hybrids after visiting heads of state, heads of government, and distinguished guests.
The gesture symbolizes friendship, respect, and enduring ties between Singapore and its partners.
During the visit, President Mahama signed the visitor’s book and received a briefing on the garden’s history and its role in Singapore’s cultural and environmental heritage.
Beyond their aesthetic beauty, these orchids are regarded as symbols of Singapore’s own journey of growth and transformation, reflecting resilience and adaptability.
