The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has announced that the application portal for recruitment into the Police, Prisons, Fire, and Immigration Services will officially open on Monday.
The Minister says this year’s process has been revised to ensure a smooth, transparent, and well-coordinated exercise across the country.
According to him, the Ministry has drawn key lessons from the El-Wak tragedy and has introduced new systems to prevent overcrowding and improve safety at all stages of the recruitment process.
As part of the measures, multiple screening centres will be set up in every region, with 10 to 15 centres in Accra alone. No centre will host more than 1,000 applicants a day, with 500 candidates screened in the morning and another 500 in the afternoon.
The Minister stressed that strict adherence to time slots will be enforced. Any applicant who appears in the morning when scheduled for the afternoon session will be instantly disqualified.
To further reduce congestion, the screening exercise will be conducted in phases. The Police Service will complete its screening before another agency begins, ensuring that no two institutions conduct screening at the same time in the same location.
The Minister also announced changes to the eligibility criteria. For the 2025 recruitment exercise, the age limit has been broadened to 30 years for both graduates and regular recruits, while craftsmen may apply up to age 35. He emphasised that the only acceptable route into the security services is through the official application portal.
Interior Minister Muntaka assured the public that the 2025 recruitment process will be free, fair, and strictly merit-based, adding that only qualified applicants will be selected into the security services.
