The Secretariat of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP) has officially disassociated itself from individuals and groups fraudulently posing as its agents. The Secretariat reports that these imposters are misleading the public and extorting money from miners and stakeholders by promising to facilitate access to mineralized areas for responsible cooperative mining.
In a strongly worded statement, rCOMSDEP clarified that these activities constitute criminal conduct under the laws of the Republic of Ghana. The Secretariat stated unequivocally that it does not operate through, and has not appointed, any agents, representatives, or intermediaries in any region or district across the country.
The public is hereby informed that no individual or group has been authorized to collect payments, fees, or levies on behalf of rCOMSDEP.
Furthermore, the Secretariat has made no appointments for the positions of “Regional Coordinator,” “District Coordinator,” or any similar titles. Anyone presenting themselves as such is an imposter acting without any mandate from the official Secretariat.
The Secretariat advises all stakeholders to refrain from engaging with these unscrupulous individuals. Any person or group choosing to deal with these self-appointed agents or purported coordinators does so entirely at their own risk, as rCOMSDEP will not be held liable for any losses, damages, or consequences arising from such unauthorized engagements.
Notice is further served that rCOMSDEP is working closely with law enforcement to ensure that anyone found engaging in these illegal activities is arrested and prosecuted. The Secretariat remains committed to the full rigours of the law to protect the integrity of the mining sector.
