The First Lady of Ghana, Lordina Mahama, has commissioned the renovated Anyima Health Centre, describing the facility as a major step toward improving healthcare delivery for residents of Anyima and surrounding communities.
The renovated facility now includes a fully equipped outpatient department, consulting room, examination room, delivery room, labour ward, children’s ward, and separate male and female wards.
Additional facilities at the centre include an adolescent health unit, laboratory, dispensary, emergency room, and dedicated offices for nurses and midwives, all aimed at strengthening the capacity of the centre to deliver quality healthcare services.
The renovation and equipping of the facility were undertaken by the Lordina Foundation, which also supplied essential medical equipment to support healthcare professionals in providing quality care.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mrs. Mahama emphasized the importance of improving healthcare infrastructure, particularly in communities where access to quality health services is limited.
“The renovated Anyima Health Centre is designed to provide accessible and quality healthcare services to the people of this community and beyond,” she stated.
She explained that the foundation ensured the facility was fitted with modern medical equipment to enhance the work of healthcare providers and improve patient care.
“Beyond renovating the building, we have also provided essential medical equipment to support effective healthcare delivery and ensure that patients receive the care they deserve,” she added.
The equipment provided to the health centre includes new hospital beds and mattresses for the wards, examination beds, an electric obstetric bed, an infant incubator, an infant phototherapy unit, an ultrasound system, and a digital electrocardiogram (ECG) machine.
Other equipment supplied to the facility includes oxygen support systems, delivery sets, patient monitoring devices, and essential neonatal care equipment.
Mrs. Mahama expressed optimism that the renovated centre and the modern equipment provided would significantly improve healthcare outcomes, especially for mothers, newborns, and children in the community.
“This facility will contribute significantly to better healthcare delivery and help ensure that mothers and children receive the quality care they need,” she said.
