The Government of Ghana, through the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), has commenced the disbursement of grants to beneficiaries of the 2025 cohort under the Adwumawura Programme, a flagship initiative aimed at promoting youth entrepreneurship, business growth, and job creation.
The Adwumawura Programme was launched to equip young Ghanaians with the skills, mentorship, and financial support needed to build sustainable enterprises.
So far, 10,887 beneficiaries across the country have undergone five weeks of intensive entrepreneurial training, followed by six months of structured mentorship to strengthen their business models and operational capacity.
As participants transitioned from training to funding, NEIP implemented a rigorous and transparent selection process to identify high-potential businesses. A Grant Management Committee comprising representatives from academia, government institutions, financial agencies, development partners, and the private sector was inaugurated to oversee the process and ensure fairness and accountability.
Beneficiaries were required to submit detailed business plans outlining their innovations and operational strategies. These proposals were subjected to a one-week screening process based on key criteria, including scalability, job creation potential, sustainability, and feasibility.
Shortlisted applicants advanced to a nationwide pitching stage, where they presented their ideas before the committee for further evaluation. This process culminated in comprehensive assessment reports that guided final selection decisions.
Following this multi-stage assessment, 3,212 beneficiaries have been selected from across all regions to receive grant support.
The commencement of disbursement marks a major milestone in the implementation of the Adwumawura Programme and underscores government’s commitment to reducing youth unemployment and fostering inclusive economic growth.
NEIP says it will continue to provide post-disbursement monitoring and business advisory services to ensure the sustainability and success of funded enterprises.
Meanwhile, prospective applicants who were unsuccessful in the 2025 cohort are encouraged to reapply, as the application portal for the 2026 cohort is expected to open soon.
