Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, Shamima Muslim, has been honoured with an award for Excellence in Media Communication by the organisers of the Impactful Women Award Initiative, in recognition of her contributions to media, advocacy, and national development.
The award was presented during a visit by the organisers to her office, where they acknowledged her longstanding role in using communication as a platform for public engagement, empowerment, and social impact.
Reacting to the recognition, Shamima Muslim described the honour as deeply meaningful and a reminder of the responsibility that comes with influencing public discourse and national conversations.
“This recognition is deeply meaningful and serves as a powerful reminder of the responsibility that comes with using communication as a tool for impact, empowerment, and national development,” she stated.

She expressed gratitude to the organisers for the recognition and reiterated her commitment to purposeful leadership and positive societal transformation.
“I remain committed to excellence, purposeful leadership, and using my voice and platform to inspire positive change and meaningful transformation in society,” she added.
Shamima Muslim is widely recognised as a gender advocate and development communicator with years of experience in media and public policy engagement.
She is also the Founder and Convener of the Alliance for Women in Media Africa (AWMA), a non-governmental organisation focused on improving the visibility, representation, and impact of women in the media space.

Over the years, she has played active roles in several advocacy initiatives, including the Ghana Right to Information Coalition, the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition, and UN-Youth Ghana, where she has championed Sustainable Development Goal 5 on gender equality.
Her work has also involved collaborations on projects supported by international organisations such as the European Union (EU), USAID, DFID, and the Commonwealth Foundation.
The recognition adds to growing acknowledgement of her contributions to media development, gender advocacy, and strategic communication in Ghana and beyond.
