The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced an expedited process to replace Ghanaian passports that were lost or damaged during the devastating floods that affected several parts of the country this week.
In a statement issued on Friday, July 3, the Ministry expressed its deepest sympathies to victims of the floods, which have claimed lives and caused widespread destruction of property across the country. It also extended condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones.
Recognising that many affected residents may have lost or had their passports damaged in the disaster, the Ministry said it had introduced a special replacement exercise to ensure victims can obtain new travel documents quickly.
The Ministry is asking all affected passport holders to contact its dedicated helpline, 055 936 8563, between Friday, July 3 and Friday, July 17, 2026. Applicants are required to provide their names, dates of birth, gender as captured in their passports, as well as their phone numbers to facilitate the replacement process.
According to the Ministry, all verified lost and damaged passports will be replaced within one week.
The Ministry reaffirmed its solidarity with flood victims and pledged its continued support for the government’s recovery efforts, describing the initiative as part of measures to ease the burden on affected citizens.
