The Coordinator of the Free Senior High School Secretariat, Mr William Darkwah, has advised parents to pay attention to the selection of schools for their children through the computerised system.
A lot of prospective SHS students go through difficulties and challenges during the computer placement process into their choice of schools.
Mr Darkwah attributed the challenges to the failure of parents to understand the choice process.
“When it comes to the selection process, most of the challenges that we face and most of the hustles the parents may think they go through are due to, sometimes, understanding the choice process that they take.
“We’re encouraging parents to – at this particular time, this is the time that you start paying attention – make sure you know exactly what your children are choosing: which school they want to choose and that sort of thing? It’s very critical because the placement is all done automatically, there’s no manual process involved in the placement system.
“The placement system uses the choices as the input, it’s a machine, so, it is based on what you input that they’re going to find a school for you. And make sure the schools that you choose, you choose them in order because your first choice is what the programme is going to look at first”, he told Accra-based Citi FM.
