In A new technology-driven waste collection platform, BorlaPlus, is set to officially launch on Friday, September 25, 2026, with the aim of connecting households, businesses and institutions with independent waste collection service providers.
Founded by Laureate Nhyira-Amissah, BorlaPlus operates as a digital marketplace through which customers can request waste collection services and connect with independent drivers.
The service is currently available in Accra, Tema, Ashaiman and surrounding communities, with plans to expand to other parts of the country in the coming weeks.
Unlike conventional waste management companies that operate their own fleets, BorlaPlus does not own waste trucks or directly employ the drivers using the platform.
Instead, the platform provides the digital infrastructure that connects customers with independent service providers. Drivers can access customer requests through the platform and determine their own service prices.
The system uses location-based matching, service notifications and real-time tracking to allow customers to request, monitor and manage waste collection services.
According to the company, the model is intended to create a flexible digital marketplace where independent drivers can connect with customers while retaining control over their operations.
Expansion into Other Services
Although waste collection is currently the platform’s main operational service, BorlaPlus has been developed to accommodate additional services, including material haulage, towing and utility deliveries.
The company says its long-term objective is to develop a digital platform that connects the public with independent providers of essential waste management, logistics and utility services across Ghana.
