The Volta regional police command has arrested five suspects
in connection with the locking out of the District Chief Executive Officer for Krachi
West in the Oti Region few days ago.
The irate youth of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) accused the DCE of
not working in their interest.
They besieged the offices of the DCE, Douglas Osei-Nti, drove him out and
locked up the place.
A statement issued by the police named the suspects as Mathias Banyolonso,
Sarfo Sunkwa, Amos Eseikpor, Tijani Shaibu and Murtala Yakubu.
They are believed to be former constituency executives of the Krachi West branch
of the NPP.
They are being investigated for assault by imprisonment, offensive conduct and
causing unlawful damage among others.
The police, in the statement signed by ACP David Eklu, Director-General, Public
Affairs, cautioned the general public, especially the youth against using
unlawful means to get redress.
