The recent National ICT Week, held from Monday, August 25 to Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre, marked a significant step in Ghana’s digital journey. Organized by the National Information Technology Agency (NITA), the event’s theme, “Ghana as Africa’s Digital Trade Hub,” underscored the nation’s commitment to leveraging technology for economic growth and regional leadership.
A Vision for Leadership
During the celebration, government officials and industry leaders spoke with a clear and unified voice. Dr. Mark-Oliver Kevor, the Director-General of NITA, described the theme as a “forward-looking blueprint that encapsulates Ghana’s vision to become a vibrant hub of digital activity, a center of excellence in innovation, and a catalyst for transformative partnerships and policies.” He emphasized that the path to becoming a digital trade hub requires a “coordinated effort across sectors and borders.”
On behalf of the Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Policy Adviser Samuel Ofosu Ampofo said that Ghana was “well positioned to lead the continent in digital trade” and highlighted government initiatives like the “24-hour economy” and the “One Million Coders programme.”
