The Executives of the BlueLight Traders Association (BTLA) has apologized to the Minister for the Interior and Member of Parliament for Asawase, Alhaji Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, following their rejection of an offer of rice to assuage their plight.
The statement was on issue of disrespectful behavior by some individuals during the Minister’s visit to the Bluelight area on March 26 to present the bags of rice.
The Minister had visited the area to offer support to victims of the devastating fire outbreak at Adum, bringing food supplies to affected traders, particularly mothers and children who had lost their livelihoods.
But some of the traders at the place jeered at him and rejected the donated items, demanding alternative forms of assistance.
In a statement signed by its interim executives, the leaders condemned the actions of the individuals involved, describing the incident as unfortunate and a result of misunderstanding and miscommunication.
