Dignitaries and family members of the deceased, on Saturday morning, gathered at her residence at East Legon in Accra, to observe one week of her passing.
In attendance were NDC Presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama, Vice-Presidential candidate of the NDC, Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, Chairman Ofosu Ampofu, newly elected Greater Accra Mayor Elizabeth Sackey, Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey as well as some high-ranking members of the NDC and government.
Ama Benyiwaa Doe died on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at the age of 73
The funeral arrangements for Hon. Ama Benyiwa-Doe has been scheduled for December 17 and 18, 2021
George Blankson, the head of the family, told Radio gold in an interview that she will be buried at Gomoa Abura in the Central Region.
“The funeral has been scheduled for the 18th of December 2021 and the venue will be Gomoa Abura.”
Background of Ama Benyiwa Doe
Madam Benyiwa-Doe was a member of the Council of State under the President Mahama-led administration.
She was a former Central Regional Minister under the late President Atta Mills regime. In January 2009, she was nominated by President Mills as the Central Regional Minister.
She was a member of the Pan-African Parliament.
Ama Chavez as she was affectionately called was also a former Central Regional Women Organizer for the NDC.
Ama Chavez hails from Gomoa West in the Central Region. She was a Member of Parliament with NDC for Gomoa West Constituency from 1992 until 2004.
