Ahead of the #OccupyBoG demonstration, Member of Parliament for Bawku Central Mahama Ayariga has sworn never to back down until the leadership of the Bank of Ghana resigns.
The MP who has a history of taking the Governor Ernest Addison led administration to task says he is convinced that the current leadership of the Bank cannot be allowed stay at post.
He says he is ready to be a lone soldier if that is what is required to keep the pressure on the BoG leadership to go.
The demonstration is the latest move by the minority, the NDC and its allies to force the leadership of the Bank of Ghana to step down.
The minority wants the Governor of the Bank of Ghana Dr. Ernest Addison, his deputies and the Board to resign for the recent losses announced by the Bank.
The Bank of Ghana reported over GH¢60billion in losses in its Financial Statements.
Speaking to Sena Nombo on the Gold Morning Conversation Bawku Central MP Mahama Yariga says the decision making of the leadership of the Bank of Ghana gives cause to worry.
He cited the construction of a new $250million headquarters and the reasons given by the leadership of the Central Bank as one of the reasons they need to be forced out.
Mahama Ayariga said the leadership at the Central Bank has demonstrated a lack of understanding of the bank’s mandate as a public institution and a regulator of the finance sector.
