The Vice Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Naana Opoku-Agyemang is embarking on a two-day tour of the Upper East Region to sway voters for the party ahead of the December 7 elections.
The Upper East Region has consistently been a stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) since 1992, with landslide victories in all presidential elections.
In the 2020 elections, the NDC comfortably won 14 seats out of the total 15 constituencies in the Region, with John Mahama winning the region with an impressive over 60% of the total valid votes cast.
The visit follows her recent campaign in the Bono Regions—Ahafo, Bono, and Bono East, where thousands of voters publicly expressed interest in voting for John Mahama, the NDC’s presidential Candidate.
During her time in the Upper East Region, Professor Opoku-Agyemang will connect with undecided voters and garner support for John Mahama, as well as various NDC parliamentary candidates contesting elections in the Region.
Her tour will involve engaging with a diverse group of constituents, including traditional leaders, artisans, and market women, as she shares the NDC’s vision for the future.
Her itinerary includes key constituencies where she plans to foster dialogue and address the concerns of the electorate directly.
A central theme of her message will be the NDC’s comprehensive action plan to “reset” the country—a campaign slogan that appears to have impressed many Ghanaians facing economic challenges.
With a focus on job creation, Professor Opoku-Agyemang is expected to present a hope narrative targeting persons who have become disillusioned with the current performance of the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government.
