Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has hosted the second Ramadan Iftar gathering for Muslim staff of the Ministry and members of the diplomatic corps, as part of efforts to promote inclusivity and unity within Ghana’s foreign service.

The event, held during the holy month of Ramadan, brought together Muslim staff of the Ministry and diplomats from various missions for prayers and the traditional breaking of the fast.
Mr. Ablakwa said the initiative reflects the Ministry’s commitment to building a workplace culture that respects religious diversity while strengthening cohesion among staff and Ghana’s diplomatic community.

“It was a great honour to host our Muslim colleagues at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and members of the diplomatic corps for this Iftar during the holy month of Ramadan,” the Minister said.
He noted that the programme has now been institutionalized following its successful introduction last year.

“I am particularly delighted that this gathering has now become an institutional event. It forms part of our broader effort to build a more inclusive, cohesive and respectful diplomatic service,” he added.
The Minister also used the occasion to extend Ramadan greetings to Muslims across Ghana and beyond, including constituents in his North Tongu constituency.

“Ramadan Kareem to all our Muslim brothers and sisters, including my beloved Muslim constituents in North Tongu. May Allah accept our supplications and continue to bless our nation,” he said.

Ramadan, observed by Muslims worldwide, is a period marked by fasting, prayer, charity and reflection. The Iftar gathering at the Ministry has increasingly become a platform for strengthening engagement between Ghana’s diplomatic service and members of the international community observing the holy month.
