Leader and Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress John Dramani Mahama officially inaugurated the Lordina Foundation Maternity and Children’s Ward at the Nkoranza Health Centre in the Bono East Region. The facility, established by the Lordina Foundation, led by his wife Lordina Mahama, is equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment and furniture, including incubators, ultrasound machines, and surgical beds.
During the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Mahama commended his wife for her tireless dedication to improving the welfare of women and children. He highlighted the Lordina Foundation’s two-decade commitment to supporting maternal and child healthcare, education, and women’s empowerment.
The former President emphasized the importance of access to quality healthcare, particularly for mothers and children, and announced plans for the next NDC government to introduce free primary healthcare and a Ghana Medical Care Trust to address chronic diseases. He also stressed the need for collaboration between government, healthcare professionals, and the community to ensure the facility’s success.
Mr. Mahama expressed gratitude to donors, benefactors, and individuals who contributed to the project’s execution. The ceremony was attended by traditional leaders, medical staff, and residents of Nkoranza. The facility is expected to provide comprehensive maternal and neonatal care to the people of Nkoranza and surrounding communities.
