The Paramount Chief of the Essikado Traditional Area, Nana Kobina Nketsiah V has revealed that the nomination and approval of Professor Naana Opoku-Agyemang as the 2024 Running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) restored his hope for a better Ghana.
According to the prominent Paramount Chief and Statesman this hope was further cemented whenhe listened to Professor Opoku-Agyemang’s speech during her outdooring at the UPSA.
He described the former Cape Coast University Vice Chancellor as “God’s chosen” for Ghana, stating that she possesses the potential to bring about positive change.
He expressed deep admiration for her inspiring leadership and vision, adding that she has rekindled hope in many citizens who were feeling disillusioned.
The Paramount Chief of Essikado Traditional Area, Nana Kobina Nketsiah V made these remarks when Professor Opoku-Agyemang paid a courtesy call on him as part of the NDC running mate’s three-day campaign tour of the Western Region.
Speaking about his long-standing relationship with Professor Opoku-Agyemang, Nana Nketsiah V revealed his joy when the NDC flagbearer, John Mahama decided to stick with her as his running mate for this year’s election.
The prominent traditional leader recounted his own struggles to keep alive his hopes in Ghana’s ability to rise from its prevailing struggles and build a better state for the future generations.
However, with Professor Opoku-Agyemang on the political scene, Nana Nketsiah V said he had a renewed optimism, saying “We have people like Professor Opoku-Agyemang.”
He commended Professor Opoku Agyemang for her inspiring messages and words of encouragement on campaign platforms and urged her to maintain her dignified approach and avoid using unsavory language.
Nana Nketsiah V also lamented the divisive nature of politics in Ghana, he advised Professor Opoku-Agyemang to ignore insults and instead focus on her mission of instilling hope in many Ghanaian women.
Nana Nketsiah V expressed his support for Professor Opoku-Agyemang, underscoring her potential alongside John Mahama to bring transformative change to Ghana.
Professor Opoku Agyemang has since ended phase one of her campaign tour to ophan constituencies of the Western Region.
During her tour she visited, Tarkwa Nsuaem, Ahanta West, Mpohor-Fiase, Shama, Essikado, Takoradi, Effia, and Kwesimintsim constituencies.
