Palermo, Italy – November 3, 2025:

The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building an inclusive and resilient economy that delivers opportunities for all, particularly women, youth, and small business owners who form the foundation of Ghana’s enterprise landscape.

Speaking during a keynote session on job creation at the AGORA Conference in Palermo, Italy, the Vice President emphasized that the government is implementing a targeted, multi-dimensional empowerment strategy designed to stimulate grassroots innovation, expand market access, and strengthen livelihoods across sectors.

She highlighted the BRIDGE Program as one of the major initiatives linking small and medium enterprises to financing and larger market value chains.

Additionally, she referenced the Women in Agricultural Productivity and Enterprise Fund (WAPE-Fund), which provides specialized support to women farmers and agribusiness processors to scale production and enhance competitiveness.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also noted the successful rollout of the Adwumawura Entrepreneurship and Skills Programme, which attracted over 120,000 applications from young Ghanaians. Out of these, 10,000 young entrepreneurs have already been selected for the first phase of training, mentorship, and catalytic funding support to help them establish and expand their businesses.

“We are building an economy where no hand is left empty,” the Vice President stated confidently. “Our vision is to empower our people not just to work, but to create, innovate, and own the future of our nation.”

She further emphasized that Ghana’s development journey is one of shared responsibility and collective progress:

“Development is a relay, and the baton is employment,” she remarked. “To our partners and investors, we say: come to Ghana—not only to do business, but to build the future with us.”

The Vice President concluded by highlighting the pivotal contributions of women and the youth, describing them as the driving force behind Ghana’s transformation and long-term stability.
