The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie has officially launched the FESTAC AFRICA Festival 2025, calling it a historic and transformative platform for Africa and the Diaspora.
Speaking at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, she said Ghana is proud to host the biggest Pan-African festival ever staged in the country from 21st to 27th September 2025, under the theme: “Harnessing Health, Culture, Trade, Climate Change, Gender Equity, and Tourism for Sustainable Economic Growth.”
“This festival belongs to every African and friend of Africa, regardless of where they live. It is a symbol of the unity of a people determined to rise together, celebrate our strengths, and take our rightful place in the world,” Hon. Gomashie stated.
She stressed that FESTAC AFRICA is about impact, inclusion, and changing lives, providing opportunities for entrepreneurs, SMEs, and creatives to connect with investors while showcasing Africa’s cultural richness
Ghana Tourism Authority’s Perspective
On behalf of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Deputy CEO Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana welcomed participants and highlighted the festival as the ultimate Black Star Experience, designed to blend culture with economic transformation.
“FESTAC AFRICA Festival 2025 is more than an event; it is the biggest Pan-African festival bringing together culture, commerce, and collaboration to drive sustainable development and create the largest trade market space during festival week,” he emphasized.
Activities will include conferences, exhibitions, cultural performances, fashion shows, culinary experiences, film screenings, health campaigns, and a youth summit. The GTA underscored that beyond celebration, the festival would build sustainable linkages between culture and trade, opening new markets for artisans, creators, and innovators across the continent.

The Chairman of FESTAC AFRICA Engr. Yinka Abioye described the festival as “a movement, a rallying point, and a legacy”, noting that Accra will host a world-class celebration of African culture, creativity, and commerce
“This is where culture meets commerce, where tradition meets innovation, and where Africa meets the world,” he said, urging Africans, the Diaspora, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to take ownership of the moment.
He also revealed that the festival will feature the largest Pan-African trade marketplace ever seen during a festival week, positioning Ghana as the heartbeat of Africa’s rebirth.
The FESTAC AFRICA Festival 2025 is expected to attract thousands of visitors from Africa and the Diaspora, reinforcing Ghana’s role as the gateway to Africa and a hub for cultural and economic exchange.
