Ghana is seeking to strengthen cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to accelerate agricultural development, improve food security and promote sustainable farming practices.
As part of these efforts, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, has held discussions with the Vice-President of the FAO in Rome, Italy, aimed at deepening collaboration between Ghana and the international organisation.
The engagement focused on the importance of international partnerships in addressing agricultural challenges, building resilient food systems and improving the livelihoods of farmers.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to explore stronger cooperation in promoting sustainable agricultural practices and strengthening Ghana’s capacity to respond to emerging threats to food production and food security.
The engagement reflects Ghana’s efforts to leverage international cooperation and technical expertise to support agricultural transformation and build a more resilient and sustainable agricultural sector.
The proposed strengthened partnership is expected to support the country’s broader ambition of improving agricultural productivity, enhancing food security and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for farmers.
