Ghana is exploring the possibility of introducing a direct flight route from Accra to Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso.
This initiative aims to enhance connectivity, foster bilateral relations, and strengthen regional cooperation between the two countries.
President John Dramani Mahama announced this plan during bilateral talks with Burkina Faso’s leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
He emphasized the importance of improving transportation links to facilitate trade and commerce within the West African region.
Key Benefits of the Direct Flight Route:
Enhanced Connectivity
A direct flight route will reduce travel time and increase the frequency of flights between Accra and Ouagadougou.
Boost to Trade and Commerce
The direct flight route will facilitate trade and commerce between Ghana and Burkina Faso, promoting economic growth and development.
Increased Energy Cooperation
The initiative also aims to increase energy cooperation between the two countries, including electricity exports and the extension of a pipeline from Bolgatanga to Ouagadougou.
A Ghanaian airline has already expressed interest in operating the direct flight route, which is expected to commence soon.
