The Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) has officially unveiled three key initiatives designed to reset and revitalise the country’s tourism sector: the Ghana Tourism Marketplace (GTM), the Ghana Tourism Investment Platform (GTiP), and the Destination Marketing Awards (DMA).
The announcement was made during “The BIG Tourism Conversation,” a high-level stakeholder forum held at the Accra City Hotel. The event brought together policymakers, industry players, and development partners to examine the company’s “reset agenda” aimed at positioning Ghana as Africa’s premier tourism destination.

Ghana Tourism Marketplace (GTM): An online booking service where travellers can securely access tourism-related services, from accommodation to guided tours. By curating only vetted providers, GTM is expected to boost visitor confidence and set higher service standards.
Ghana Tourism Investment Platform (GTiP): A web-based portal, accessible at investintourism.org, that profiles investment-ready projects. The platform already features pilot initiatives such as the Konkon Wonderland project in the Volta Region and the Centre of the World Golf Club at Tema, positioning Ghana as a magnet for tourism-related capital.
Destination Marketing Awards (DMA): A new award scheme that will highlight top-performing destinations and stakeholders, with the aim of linking recognition directly to regional and national marketing campaigns.
GTDC’s reset strategy goes beyond digital platforms. The company has pledged to work with stakeholders and government agencies to restore neglected tourist sites, develop new attractions, and build funding systems to promote Ghana’s cultural heritage. It has also signalled a shift towards collaborative site management and event curation, ensuring that communities benefit directly from tourism activities.

Ghana has long been celebrated for its cultural heritage, festivals, historical landmarks, and welcoming people. Yet, infrastructure gaps and underinvestment have slowed growth in the sector. By digitising services and opening clear investment pipelines, GTDC hopes to modernise operations, attract international funding, and create a more sustainable tourism ecosystem.
Established in 1972, the Ghana Tourism Development Company is one of 13 agencies under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts. Its mandate includes promoting tourism investment, providing technical and financial support to businesses, and enhancing the profitability of state-led tourism ventures.
The launch of GTM, GTiP, and DMA signals GTDC’s ambition to reset the industry to drive economic growth and redefine Ghana’s place in Africa’s tourism landscape.
