The Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has completed repair works on a damaged 500mm-diameter main pipeline and restored water supply to several communities in Western Accra.
The company, in a statement dated August 29, 2026, said the pipeline was damaged during excavation works undertaken by Awerco Construction Ltd, resulting in a temporary interruption in water supply to affected areas.
According to GWL, its engineers and technical teams worked continuously to repair the damaged section of the pipeline, leading to the restoration of water supply to communities including Mallam, Darkuman, Kaneshie, Mataheko, Korle Bu, Mamprobi, Dansoman Township and Chorkor, as well as surrounding communities.
The utility company, however, cautioned that some customers may continue to experience low water pressure or intermittent flow as pressure within the distribution network stabilises.
GWL therefore urged affected customers to remain patient and allow some time for normal water service to fully resume.
Management expressed appreciation to customers for their patience, cooperation and understanding during the interruption, while also acknowledging the efforts of stakeholders who contributed to the speedy completion of the repair works.
