His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene of the Ashanti Kingdom, paid a courtesy visit to President John Dramani Mahama at the Presidency to officially congratulate him on his victory in the 2024 Presidential Election.
During the visit, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II recalled a previous encounter, stating:
“You visited me two weeks after you were sworn in, and I was grateful for that. Today, I return the gesture after your re-election.”
The King commended the President for the progress he has seen in the country:
“I can feel the development and changes you are bringing to the people of Ghana.
I encourage you to continue doing what will bring economic happiness and prosperity to the people.”
Otumfuo further expressed his long-standing trust in the President’s character:
“I have known you for a long time, and I can say that you are a good man. So, don’t change.”
Addressing government appointees, the King urged them to act with responsibility and integrity:
“Government officials must be circumspect in their daily activities, promote national cohesion, and prioritize development. Personal altercations with outsiders must not interfere with governance.”
“All appointees should lead with good hearts, diligence, transparency, and accountability.”
In closing, His Majesty offered his prayers and support:
“I pray for God’s blessings and protection for President John Dramani Mahama.
“As a King, I belong to the party in government, and I will always support any government in power for the good of Ghana.”
This visit reflects the enduring collaboration between traditional leadership and the state in fostering unity and national development.
