Running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang has assured she will justify the confidence reposed in her by the party.
The former Education Minister was named earlier this week as the 2020 Running mate of the party to partner the NDC’s Flagbearer John Dramani Mahama in the party’s bid for power in the December Presidential elections.
By her appointment, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang becomes the first woman on the presidential ticket of the major political parties with a realistic shot at becoming Vice President.
In her first outing since being named, Prof. Opoku Agyemang expressed gratitude to the NDC for the honour done her by the appointment.
According to a statement issued by a deputy Spokesperson of the NDC’s Campaign Ms Margaret Ansei, the running mate made the remarks when she addressed a retreat of the newly sworn in NDC Campaign Team.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang spent her entire life in academia and was the first female Vice Chancellor of a University in Ghana when she rose to the position at the University of Cape Coast.
The NDC Running mate reminded the opposition party that Ghanaians especially women are looking up to the NDC for answers to issues that affect.
She therefore called on the party to close its ranks and work hard for victory in the 2020 elections.
