The minority in Parliament is alleging that rapid response vehicles procured for the management COVID-19 “have been diverted to aid in the ongoing EC registration process.”
The minority’s allegation comes in the wake of a viral video that portrays a health personnel using a motorcycle to transport contact-tracing samples to Noguchi Memorial Institute for testing.
The Joint Health Sector Unions and Professional Associations at their recent unprecedented press conference raised concerns with what they said was “reduced testing capacity in the mist of increasing daily case count as well as huge delays in getting test results for patients (sometimes up to three (3) weeks or more).”
The is situation according to the group which is made up of by the four major health worker unions, was “not the best, especially with its attendant high risk of viral exposure to both health professionals and the general public at the various health facilities.”

The minority in a statement authored by Ranking Member on the Health Committee Kwabena Mintah Akandor says the situation should not be the case.
The minority has therefore urged the government “to do the needful by reviewing his policies and programs to fight COVID-19.”
