John Mahama, the former President and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reaffirmed his commitment to recovering stolen funds without pursuing vendettas.
Operation-Retrieve-All-Loot aims to hold corrupt officials accountable and redirect recovered funds toward development projects.
Mahama emphasized that his goal isn’t to witch-hunt or target political opponents but to ensure fair trials.
Regarding concerns about the judiciary being packed by the current administration, Mahama stressed that judges’ appointments should follow the law.
He reassured judges, stating they have security of tenure and shouldn’t worry about repercussions.
Mahama also encouraged judges to prioritize loyalty to the government and people of Ghana, rather than the appointing authority.
Key Points:
Operation Recover All Loot: Aims to recover stolen funds for development projects
- Fair Trials: Mahama prioritizes fair trials over vendettas
- Judicial Independence: Judges should remain impartial and follow the law
- Loyalty: Judges should prioritize loyalty to the government and people, not the appointing authority
It’s worth noting that the appointment of judges can be a contentious issue, with some arguing that elections can promote judicial independence, while others believe appointments are more effective in maintaining impartiality.
