The Member of Parliament for the Bodi constituency, Sampson Ahi says the top hierarchy of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) concede that it is highly unlikely Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia will win the December elections.
He explained that sources from within the party acknowledges the herculean task the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia’s campaign faces in their attempt to stem the tide.
The Bodi MP says this realization has forced the NPP party to readjust its strategy to concentrate on “skirt and blouse” voting.
“The NPP knows Dr. Bawumia cannot win, so they are redirecting their efforts to retaining parliamentary seats,” he stated.
Sampson Ahi said these when he hosted the NDC vice presidential candidate Professor Opoku-Agyemang during as part of her tour of the Western North Region.
According to him the NPP has resorted to desperation because of this realization.
His comment comes on the heels of predictions from reputable organizations such as The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), Fitch Solutions, and Global InfoAnalytics, which have all forecasted that former President John Mahama is poised to win the 2024 presidential elections.
The forecasts point to persistently high inflation and deteriorating living standards as significant factors contributing to Bawumia’s potential defeat.
Sampson Ahi urged voters in Bodi, Suaman, Bia East, and Bia West constituencies to resist the NPP’s “desperation tactics” and to cast their votes for the NDC in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.
