Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture designate, Emelia Arthur has announced that the NDC government will conduct a thorough review of the funding sources for all landing beach projects, including those initiated by the previous administration.
She gave the assurance during her vetting on Wednesday, where she reiterated the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability in the fishing industry.
The Member of Parliament for Shama, Emelia Arthur revealed a plan by the government to scrutinize the funding sources for landing beaches along the coastal belt.
She said the decision was to ensure that infrastructure projects in the fishing sector are managed efficiently and effectively.
She also reassured fisher folk that the Mahama government would provide essential support services to aquaculture farmers.
According to her, the support is necessary given the alarming rate of depletion of the country’s marine and fisheries resources.
She indicated that the government plans to explore alternative measures, such as producing maize and other crops, to benefit aquaculture farmers.
Emelia Arthur said the NDC government was working tirelessly to ensure that water bodies are safe for aquaculture farming.
