During a nationwide “Thank‑You Tour,” in Greater Accra, the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) chairman Johnson Aseidu Nkatia warned that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) “will never win the Okaikwei South parliamentary seat again,” citing the party’s development record in the constituency and the re‑election of MP Ernest Adomako.

In a rousing appearance at the Okaikwei South, NDC National Chairman Johnson Aseidu Nkatia proclaimed the constituency a permanent bastion of his party, saying the New Patriotic Party (NPP) “will never win the Okaikoi South seat again in its political history.”

Aseidu Nkatia’s comments came as part of his “Thank‑You Tour,” a series of rallies across the country meant to celebrate the party’s performance in the 2024 general elections and to thank supporters for what the leadership describes as an “unprecedented wave of grassroots mobilisation.”

Ernest Adomako, the Member of Parliament for Okaikoi South, secured a decisive victory in the December 7, 2024 parliamentary elections. According to the Electoral Commission’s final tally,Ernest Adomako captured 32,691 votes, representing 57.40% of the total votes cast, while the NPP’s candidate, Darkoa Newman, trailed with 24,263 votes (42.60 %).
The result marked the first time the NDC has won Okaikwei South seat for 28 years now.

Standing before an audience of roughly 800 supporters, Aseidu Nkatia highlighted a slate of projects the NDC government has delivered in Okaikwei South over the past years:

The 2024 general elections saw the NDC retain a slender majority in Parliament, holding 185 of the 275 seats, while the NPP occupied 87 and smaller parties shared the remainder. Okaikwei South’s result contributed to the NDC’s overall margin, reinforcing the party’s urban footholds in Greater Accra.

With the next general election slated for 2028, both parties are already gearing up for a high‑stakes contest. For now, Okaikwei South stands as a showcase of the NDC’s recent successes and a rhetorical battlefield where the NPP is vowing to fight back.
