Former Employment and Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Armah Ashitey, has officially declared his intention to contest the National Chairmanship of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the party’s National Delegates Conference in December.
Leveraging his extensive public service background and long-standing commitment to the party, the former Korle Klottey Member of Parliament outlined a leadership vision anchored on grassroots empowerment, structural unity, and deepened internal democracy.
Addressing party faithfuls, Ashitey emphasized the need to build an inclusive organization where cadres, youth, women, and former executives play a meaningful role, summarizing his core mission as a commitment to serve “from the grassroots, with the grassroots, and for the grassroots.”
Ashitey’s bid has received a major endorsement from former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and past President of the Ghana Bar Association, Nii Osah Mills. Endorsing his former Cabinet colleague, Osah Mills praised Ashitey as a trusted, humble, and accessible leader whose professional background as a lawyer and proven record in public office uniquely position him to unify and strengthen the NDC.
He highlighted Ashitey’s focus on broad-based inclusion and previous party experience as key assets that render him well-prepared to lead the party into its next political chapter.
