In the wake of the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight individuals in Obuasi, the Paramount King of Shai and Member of the Council of State representing the Greater Accra Region, His Royal Majesty Drolor Bosso Adamtey I, has paid a solemn courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.

The visit, held at the residence of the Chief Imam, was to offer condolences over the national tragedy and seek spiritual blessings as the Shai ruler assumes his new role on the Council of State.

“I want to take a moment to extend condolences to the families affected by this tragedy.

It is a heavy burden for the entire nation, and even more so for our President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama. As the father of the nation, I believe he carries this loss with immense weight,” the Paramount Chief said.

Describing the crash as a “national tragedy that has left a deep scar on the hearts of many Ghanaians,” he emphasized the importance of unity and spiritual guidance in such difficult times.

“It is critical that in moments like this, we seek the direction and blessing of those who matter in our national discourse. The Chief Imam has been a pillar of peace and unity in our country, and I came not only to introduce myself but also to seek his wisdom as I begin my duty,” he noted.

According to him, the Chief Imam received him warmly and offered prayers not only for his stewardship on the Council of State but also for the nation, the bereaved families, and President Mahama.

The Council of State member praised the Chief Imam’s enduring contribution to national cohesion and acknowledged the strong bonds between the Muslim community and the people of Shai.

“There is a growing Muslim presence in Dodowa and across Shai lands, and we have lived peacefully, shoulder to shoulder. I see myself as a servant — one who must submit to the will of God and the people,” he remarked.

He reiterated his commitment to transparency, grassroots engagement, and spiritual consultation, pledging to serve Greater Accra with humility and respect.

“I was elected on the promise to represent the region, and that means listening to stakeholders and amplifying the concerns of our people at the highest advisory level,” he said.

The visit, described by observers as timely and humble, comes at a moment when the nation is in mourning and in need of healing. Many have hailed the gesture as a demonstration of leadership rooted in cultural reverence and spiritual solidarity.

The National Chief Imam, in his response, commended the Paramount Chief for his humility and offered prayers for strength and guidance in his new role.
